A young man suspected of having participated in the fatal shooting that took place on April 23, 2019 in front of the Moonlight bar, rue Maréchal-Joffre in Nantes, has just been released due to a procedural defect. Indicted for “murder and attempted murder in an organized gang” and imprisoned since the end of 2019, the suspect, now 25, appealed on January 5 against a request for release that had been made to him. Refused.
The investigating chamber of the Rennes Court of Appeal had to respond to him within 20 days. Except she didn’t. The deadline not having been respected, the young man, who continues to proclaim his innocence, was therefore authorized to leave the remand center, as provided for by law, reports West France. Free under judicial control
The suspect, who remains indicted in this dramatic case, is however not completely free of his movements. It is subject to a judicial review until a possible trial.
Between April 19 and 23, 2019, several settling of accounts by firearms had shaken different districts of Nantes. The climax was reached on April 23 with the death of a 24-year-old man who was shot at the entrance to the Moonlight shisha bar where he was employed.
