India: The election is all about one person: Prime Minister Modi

From April 19th to June 1st, Indians will elect their new parliament in several stages. Prime Minister Modi is the big favorite – but his record is difficult.

In front of the entrance to India’s Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a magnificent rhinoceros looks down from a poster. Right next to it stands a life-size cardboard cutout of Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising the rebirth of this archaic species, which was on the brink of extinction in India 20 years ago. Park visitors repeatedly stop at the installation and have their photos taken with the Hindu politician.
