The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in intensive care continued to increase, climbing to 5,769, the highest for nearly a year, according to figures released this Saturday by Public Health France. This figure has increased by a thousand in just 15 days. And it hadn’t been this high since April 17, 2020.

The health agency said 388 people had been admitted to critical care services (resuscitation, intensive care, continuous monitoring) in twenty-four hours. On Friday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran estimated that these services would continue to fill up “for at least 15 days”.

The vaccination campaign continues

The number of hospitalized patients, however, fell on Saturday for the second day in a row, to 30,238. The day after a “record” day of some 510,000 vaccinations in France, according to Olivier Véran, the pace slowed this Saturday, with just over 320,000 according to the Directorate General of Health.

The DGS identifies 3.685 million people who received the two necessary injections, and 10.745 million a first injection.
