Increase in the broadcasting fee and RBB: “There are a thousand ways you can save money.” – Media

Brandenburg’s SPD Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke is a hardliner against any increase in contributions. Now the KEF, the commission for determining financial needs in broadcasting, has calculated that broadcasters will need more money from 2025 – the contribution should rise to 18.94 euros. The RBB is now having to make massive savings, and the state of Brandenburg is acting aggressively to realign the station. The new state contract for the RBB, for which Berlin and Brandenburg are responsible, reduces the director’s salary, introduces various controlling systems and strengthens supervision. In order to promote reporting from Brandenburg, the law, which is due to come into force at the beginning of next year, also prescribes rules that the RBB wants to defend itself against. Is the state going too far? As State Secretary in the State Chancellery in Potsdam, Benjamin Grimm is responsible for media policy in the country.
