In Ukraine, the battle of Chassiv Yar is preparing

Russian and Ukrainian forces are engaged in fierce fighting near the key town of Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine. This town is located less than 30 km southeast of Kramatorsk. It is essential because it is the main city still under Ukrainian control in the Donetsk region as well as an important railway and logistics hub for the Ukrainian army.

Ukrainian forces are strengthening their defensive positions in order to slow down, or even stop, the Russian advance on Chassiv Yar. To protect the city, the army moved “dragon teeth”. These are rows of concrete pyramids whose objective is to hinder the advance of enemies, particularly tanks.

Many soldiers were relocated to Chassiv Yar, perched high up, in order to defend it from Russian assaults. According to the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, Moscow hopes to take this city before May 9, the day of commemorations of the victory against Nazi Germany in Russia.

kyiv is worried that the capture of this city will allow the Russians to attack Kramatorsk, an essential rail and logistics hub for the Ukrainian army. Due to its essential strategic interest, the capture of Kramatorsk could lead to a breakthrough of the front for Russian forces.

On the eastern front, where “the situation is tense”, Russian troops, “in numerical superiority”, are attempting a breakthrough “west of Bakhmut”, admitted the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Roustem Umerov, there is ten days.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, assures that the troops defending Chassiv Yar have received additional weapons in order to better block the thrust of the Russian army.
