In the middle of Vaterstetten – the eternal summer – Ebersberg

Anyone waiting for a train in Vaterstetten does so under a station clock that is still in summer mode. Maybe a technical defect, but maybe a future not so distant has dawned in the larger community

According to Rilke, the summer was not very big this year is probably undisputed. At least in terms of quality. This is different when it comes to the quantity, i.e. the length of the summer, because this year there is more to do than usual. At least for everyone who is waiting for their S-Bahn in Vaterstetten. You do this under a station clock that is still in summer mode almost two weeks after the time change. Maybe a technical defect, but maybe a future not so distant has dawned in the larger community.

We remember: three years ago there was an EU-wide survey on the future of the time change. Less than one percent of the European population took part, and the participation was not that European either, because the majority of the feedback came from the Federal Republic of Germany. But where a majority not only voted for the end of the time change, but also spoke out in favor of being able to get up very early all year round in the future – so the so-called summer time should be permanent. Now one can speculate about whether people plagued by insomnia, even senile escape from bed, tend to participate in such surveys, according to the motto, when I’m already awake, the others should get up too, otherwise it’s so boring. However, it becomes even more speculative when it comes to whether and when there will be a reaction to this survey, i.e. the time change will actually be abolished and which time zone should then apply. Especially in the west and north of the continent, people are of the opinion that the sunrise should come before the lunch break.

But while there is still hesitation and hesitation elsewhere, the will of the survey population is already being implemented in Vaterstetten – and with the limitation of summer time to a single station clock, also according to the voter turnout.
