In the middle of the street: Buffet 304 – Ebersberg

The accident severity is known to be a popular point of contention. For example between residents and traffic authorities: while the former refer to the dangers of the road and demand measures such as speed limits, zebra crossings or even traffic lights, the latter usually see the situation as far too harmless for such expensive gadgets. Some residents of the B304 also see this road as a black spot – only with the difference that they probably don’t have any problems with it, quite the opposite.

Which is probably due to the fact that the residents concerned benefit from any accidents next to their homes, they are, so to speak, their daily bread. On some days, a hook-beaked silhouette appears to be perched on almost every grove, keeping an eye on what’s happening on the road, even in the largely leafless early spring season. Traffic lights like those at Reitgesing near Ebersberg are also very popular vantage points.

They are probably waiting for accident victims, in this case careless mice, rabbits and other small animals. The B in B304 then stands for buffet. From the point of view of the birds, which don’t have it easy anyway in the modern monoculture landscape, as well as the general sustainability – at least the animals that have been run over are fed back into the natural food cycle – is definitely to be welcomed.

The Raptor All-You-Can-Eat is a bit reminiscent of old westerns, keyword: the vultures are already circling. Good: Circling is rare in this case and no one plays the harmonica here either – if someone did, it would be lost in the traffic noise anyway – but if you observe the little relatives of the feathered Wild West extras like this: A bit of a memento mood comes up …
