In the middle of Ottobrunn – Alone among women – District of Munich

There are events exclusively for women for almost all areas of life: from online seminars on investment funds to the women’s bathing days in the Müller’schen Volksbad to technology and breakdown courses in the driving school only for women. The concept is actually very clear: Men are not wanted here. They would only bother you.

The letter of invitation from the Free Evangelical Congregation Ottobrunn to their women’s breakfast is all the more astonishing. A nice idea in itself. Chatting with host Dorothee Brüggendick about God and the world, enjoying coffee, rolls and jam and letting God be a good man. You could imagine it to be so relaxed, this manless meeting all among women on a Saturday morning in the community center.

The curious thing about this letter from Ottobrunn is immediately apparent in the address: “Dear editors,” it says. In 2021, no one will assume that only men will work for a newspaper. There must be another intention to make this women’s breakfast palatable only to the male members of the editorial team.

It has not yet been finally clarified which of the honored editors could best be sent there, all alone among women. There are certainly some interested parties, so the Free Evangelical Congregation can be completely unconcerned. But should he have parenting skills or be a good cook? Do the ladies want to talk to him about football or do they have enough experience as a normal family man?

“What is important to me and why?” Is the topic of the meeting with Ms. Brüggendick. She is a “supervisor” and a “life advisor”, so she has certainly not only known since Hape Kerkeling’s film character Horst Schlämmer: Editors are always hungry and have one thing in mind when they meet at breakfast: grab a bite to eat.
