In the middle of Neubiberg – webcam from the town hall construction site – district of Munich

Many a passenger can sing a song about it. You’re on your way to the lake, in relaxed anticipation, barriers appear in front of the car, in the worst case a lane narrowing and a traffic light. “What are they building there again?” comes an adrenaline-pumping voice behind the wheel. In view of the outrageous handicap, the accelerator pedal is pushed down even more, and then you land rudely in your seat belt. Silence and abstinence from any reasonable statement is recommended for the person in the next seat. If you try “The asphalt was definitely damaged” or “You always complained about the holes in the road” you might hear cannonades of abuse directed at “those from the city”, “those in the building authority” and all the “chair farts, who have no idea” and worse.

“It’s still a construction site here!” “Here’s a construction site again!” “Are they never finished?” “What are they doing again for nonsense?” Sentences like these escape above all from the surprised motorist who is disturbed by evil forces in the middle of his most beautiful pleasure drive. A method of finding out about such bad things before starting the journey could certainly contribute to more harmony on the journey and to better nerves on the part of the passengers. The first step in this direction, which has now been taken by the municipality of Neubiberg, is therefore to be welcomed. The town hall is being remodeled there and there is a webcam that takes a picture of the progress every ten minutes.

Now, the pace of this progression might be cause for adrenaline rushes, but even more important are simply roadworks. There should therefore be a webcam at each such location. At breakfast you can warn your loved ones in advance. “Honey, just before Lake Feringa there is a narrowing of the track.” He will take note of it in a good mood over coffee. However, it is possible that he forgot it again at Lake Feringa. Then don’t make a comment: “I told you so.”
