In the middle of hair – stressed neck – Munich district

Hair can be so much. It is an eye-catcher in the fashion magazine. A turn off in the soup. There is full, gray and, unfortunately, all too often flaky hair. There is hardly a word in the German language that is so strained for images. The petty contemporary means everything exactly as he says it is. And even if he recognizes the actually invisible hairline crack, he rejects the accusation of splitting hairs. The word for what most at least wear on their heads is a blessing and a curse. Hair is loved, missed and the word is often used and abused in language. And then there is the community of Haar.

Anyone who enters the place name in a search engine all too often ends up on fashion websites or with dubious advisors who claim to help depressed men get a plump head of hair. The community is not as struck by its name as the Lederhose in Thuringia or several Austrian towns. Who wants to measure how often the mayor of the village “Turkey” in Carinthia tears his hair because he is fighting in vain to market his beautiful homeland for tourism on the Internet. Who googles for a hotel in “Edelschrott” in Styria? Not to mention fucking in Upper Austria. The local council recently decided to rename the place Fugging.

Of course, nobody in the town hall in Haar thinks of that. The word games with hair are also harmless in nature. For this, Mayor Andreas Bukowski and his family have now decided to tackle a problem with the help of the speaking community name. Haar should become better known as a community, it should sharpen its profile, so that entrepreneurs settle their companies in the place in the east of Munich. In doing so, they came up with the “hair approach” in the town hall. This is what the municipality calls its image campaign with small films on the Internet, in which hair entrepreneurs tell what makes hair special.

Hopefully the message will also be found by those to whom it is addressed. If you google it, you end up in a completely different field. Some people just want to hide or dye their hairline.
