Anyone who has ever waited frustrated and cold for the often unpunctual S-Bahn in the morning will agree that Deutsche Bahn maintains a very idiosyncratic calendar. However, the group only recognizes trains that arrive more than six minutes after the scheduled departure as late, and canceled trains do not appear in the statistics anyway. Apparently, the train is not only lagging behind by minutes or hours, but by years: Mayor Werner van der Weck is quoted as saying in a recently published press release on the completion of the barrier-free expansion at Feldkirch station. However, he has been enjoying his retirement for almost three years.
After all, the station in Feldkirchen should have been barrier-free by the end of 2018, and van der Weck was indeed still the head of the town hall. Perhaps a success report had already been prepared at the time, which was repeatedly postponed but not updated due to the constant delays. That someone else is mayor now? incidental.
The alleged mayor van der Weck says he is “very happy” that people with prams, walkers or wheelchairs can now access the platform. It may be that he is really happy about the completion of the construction work, after all he often had to deal with the many delays during his tenure. And maybe he would have liked to announce the long-awaited completion himself. This happy task was now reserved for his successor Andreas Janson. He, in turn, had been promoted to the executive chair prematurely by the town hall administration: Shortly before the election, when he was still deputy van der Weck, he was listed as first mayor in an official announcement.
Janson, too, is surprised that the elevator is actually running, given the time and time taken by the railway, which is astounding. He couldn’t believe it at first, he tested the new function personally – including video evidence on the Instagram social network. And lo and behold: the elevator moves, the doors open, Janson gets out unharmed and without delay. It is questionable whether the trains at the top of the platform are more punctual now.
