In Rouen, an openly xenophobic evening denounced by the mayor

“Foreigners out!” “. The mayor (PS) of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, announced on Friday evening that he had contacted the public prosecutor to report an evening of a “xenophobic” nature, against the backdrop of the electoral campaign for the legislative elections.

Entitled “Ausländer raus” (which means “Foreigners outside” in German), the evening is scheduled for June 28 and must be held in “the right-wing identity bar” Le Mora, according to the letter sent to the prosecutor by the mayor and returned public by the latter on X (formerly Twitter).

Famous Nazi slogan

This type of evening “has nothing to do in Rouen, nor anywhere in Europe”, denounces Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, who specifies that he has also contacted the prefecture. The organization of this evening may “be subject to a criminal classification”, he points out, considering that “these remarks are in violation of article 1 of Law n°90-615 of July 13, 1990 tending to repress any racist, anti-Semitic or xenophobic act.”

On Instagram, the Le Mora bar published a poster advertising the evening, with a pineapple and a tropical cocktail in the foreground, a sunset on a beach in the background. Famous Nazi slogan, “Ausländer raus” is available in pink and blue tones, the letters taking the shape of neon lights. “Membership card required”, specifies the bar, which adds that “the Hawaiian shirt (will be) required”.

During the European elections of June 9, the National Rally list carried by its leader Jordan Bardella collected 16.18% of the votes in Rouen.
