In Munich-Mittersendling: Lift constantly goes up and down – Munich

A passenger elevator in a residential building on Würzstrasse in Mittersendling took on a life of its own on Wednesday morning and could no longer be stopped. The elevator occupants had to be freed by the fire department.

A man had gotten into the elevator early in the morning and wanted to go to the ground floor. On board was his one-year-old son, whom he was carrying in his arms. However, the elevator on the ground floor did not open its door, but instead went back to the top floor. Once there, we went back downstairs with the door still closed. This game never ended, it was constantly up and down.

When the man tried to get help over the intercom, the voice on the other end of the line explained that he could not be helped and that he should contact the fire department. The wife, who was waiting for her husband in the stairwell with four other small children, took care of this.

The emergency services opened the control panel and pressed the emergency stop switch. They then manually drove the cabin to the nearest floor and opened the sliding doors with a special key. Only then could father and son leave their mobile prison. It is not known how many laps the two actually completed. The elevator was shut down.
