In Lyon, there is no question of canceling the Festival of Lights

At the time of presenting its “energy sobriety” plan for next winter, the city of Lyon wanted to dispel any fears regarding the Festival of Lights. No question of canceling the event, nor of modifying it. “We want it and I’m very attached to it,” insists Mayor Grégory Doucet.

“The electricity consumption of the festival of lights is marginal compared to what can be consumed in a city”, argues the elected official, for whom “the word sobriety should not be synonymous with austerity”. “We are not going to deprive the Lyonnais of a heritage celebration,” he adds. As planned, the event, whose lineup has not yet been revealed, will take place from December 8 to 11.
