In Lisieux, investigation opened after the suspicious death of a principal in his college

An investigation was opened after the discovery of the body of the principal of a college in Lisieux (Calvados), Friday August 11 morning, in his establishment. According to the first elements of the investigation, the official went to the college early Friday morning for verification, following the triggering of a security alert, said the Lisieux prosecutor’s office joined by Agence France-Presse.

An autopsy will be performed quickly to clarify the causes of death, the same source added without further details. According to several media, the investigators believe that it is a suspicious death and the judicial police of Caen have been seized.

In a message posted on Xformerly Twitter, the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, wrote: “I join in the pain and emotion of the teachers, students and staff who mourn the death of Stéphane Vitel (…) An investigation is underway. My thoughts and full support go out to his family and colleagues.”.

U-turn on the road to his vacation

According to France Bleu Normandie who revealed the information, the principal of the Pierre-Simon de Laplace college was on the road to vacation with his family when he was informed of the triggering of the intrusion alarm in his college, where he returned after turning around, leaving his wife and children in the car.

The latter found him dead in the administrative parts of the establishment and called the emergency services, which could not revive him, according to the radio.
