“In Germany you never know why a person is looking at you” – Bavaria

Priscilla Hirschhausen has been committed to the concerns and integration of refugees for years; she won the City of Nuremberg’s Cultural Promotion Prize last year. Now she is going from Franconia to Ghana – the country of her parents’ birth. One reason: the AfD.

Her mother came to Germany from Ghana when she was eight months pregnant. Priscilla Hirschhausen, 38, was born in Germany and spent her entire life in Bavaria. And she has been socially committed for a long time: her association “we integrate”, which is committed to the integration of refugees, won the City of Nuremberg’s Cultural Promotion Prize in 2023. She also gave workshops against racism. Now she has emigrated to her mother’s home country because she wants to find her roots and she is worried about the shift to the right in Germany.
