In front of the Christkindlesmarkt, the city of Nuremberg is threatened with unsightly pictures. – Bavaria

Nuremberg threatens hardship before the start of the Christkindlesmarkt. As announced, activists from the climate camp submitted an urgent application to the Ansbach administrative court against the city of Nuremberg on Thursday. They want to avoid having to break down their tents on Sebalder Platz and move in November. The city wants to achieve that. She argues that for logistical reasons, rescue workers need the space during the Christmas market. The activists have been demonstrating in the old town for more than a year. All legal leeway will be exhausted, announces meeting leader Markus Feuerlein in an interview with the SZ. Even if the activists should lose in the first instance, the city must prepare for further clashes. Financially, the activists could afford the legal battle after they had been promised help from a number of institutions.

The authorities are not only threatened with arguments in front of the courts. In talks it was “openly communicated” that the city would have to expect resistance even if it were legally victorious. “We are a heterogeneous group,” says Feuerlein. He could not rule out that parts of the group of several dozen people could only be removed from the square by evacuation. One feels like a victim of “political maneuvers”. For a long time the city pretended to tolerate the camp. After the CSU complained about the limits of “reasonableness”, the wind turned. Feuerlein indicates that activists sometimes also use chaining to draw attention to grievances.

The administrative court confirmed the receipt of the action from the climate camp. They judge not only against the relocation of the camp. The activists also resisted a decision the city wants to use to ensure that no food is prepared in the camp. A decision can be expected in ten days at the earliest, said court spokesman Timm Waldmann.
