Almost at the turn of the year, the Taliban shocked the world. With a series of decrees, the Afghan Islamists have further restricted the already minimal freedoms of women in the country. In fact, in the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” not only any kind of further education is now banned. From now on, women are no longer allowed to work for foreign aid organizations and NGOs. What that means is clear: Since only women are allowed to have access to foreign women in this country, which is as poor as it is ultra-conservative, practical help will hardly be possible, especially in the villages.
