Truck blocks a road. Many Reddit users debate who is to blame for this blockage. Is it the fault of Edeka, the transport company or the city?
Bremen – Trucks can sometimes cause trouble in the neighborhood. For example, if they leave behind dirt and rubbish. In another case, a blocked road provides a topic for discussion. A user shares a photo of a truck on the Reddit platform and asks “Who actually gives the building permit for a supermarket that can only be supplied in this way?”
Because the truck doesn’t just block the road: An Edeka branch is to be supplied with new goods. But the loading zone is hardly bigger than the sidewalk. And so the truck extends with its total length over the entire street. Some users blame the city planners and write: “Blame the city planners who fail to set up reasonable delivery zones.”

Others point out that older supermarkets and loading areas were planned completely differently: “The store looks as if the building permit was issued at a time when the delivery trucks were still about half the length and when delivering at most the pedestrians would have blocked the way.”
A heated discussion ensues over the avoidable question of guilt. The transport company has to choose the right vehicle. “We took a maximum of a 7.5-ton truck and no semi-trailer,” reports one person in the comments. Others refer to Edeka’s logistics department and believe that they should order a 7.5-ton truck instead of a semitrailer.

According to the catalog of fines, there are various fines for trucks that block pedestrian crossings or streets by stopping. In principle, similar restrictions apply to trucks as to passenger cars. If the driver leaves the vehicle for at least three minutes, he parks. But even stopping at certain points is not permitted.
