“I’m going to rape you” … A man sentenced to 2 years in prison for threats on the networks

A 20-year-old man, tried in immediate appearance, was sentenced to two years’ suspended imprisonment, this Monday in Pontoise (Val-d’Oise), for having uttered multiple death threats against a young woman spotted on the social networks.

Placed in custody on Sunday in the premises of the Val-d’Oise police, he is accused of having threatened with death and rape on social networks a young woman he did not know and who had rejected him .

A hunt in Paris and Essonne

In a long thread of messages on Twitter, shared more than 28,000 times, the victim, barely of age, unfolded the intense harassment suffered for several weeks. According to the screenshots she posted, the insults began via private messages on Instagram in early June. In August, the messages, emanating from several accounts to confuse the issue, became more virulent.

“You, I’ll catch you, I’m going to rape you,” “I’m going to slaughter your family,” belching his stalker in audio messages, demanding that he contact her for a chat. He films himself looking for the young woman in Paris and in Essonne where she lives.

Already known to the police

In one of his videos, he brandishes a knife while throwing at her: “Dare to come, I’m waiting for you”. He also urges him not to file a complaint. “Even if I arrive, I see you, I cut your throat, I rape you, I know that I will never take 20 years (…) I can do what I want, you did not understand that”, he boasted in another audio message, bragging about harassing former wives.

After the stir aroused on the social network, and the investigations of the police, the young man, already known to justice for similar facts, finally presented himself to the police station. Another investigation remains open on the actions of certain individuals who wished to do battle with him, said the prosecution.
