Illuminations damaged by malicious act

A dog-eared postcard. For a week, the illuminations of the Champs-Elysées, inaugurated with great fanfare by Gilles Lellouche on November 19, have been stripped of some of their sparkle.

In fact, all the illuminations in a quarter of the north side of the avenue have no longer worked since the night of last Monday to Tuesday, informs the Champs-Elysées Committee in a press release published this Monday morning.

Damaged cables to replace

According to the Committee, the origin of this breakdown has been detected. It appears to be a power supply cable that was torn off. Worse, the vandalized cables would have been left exposed on the ground, posing a significant risk to passers-by.

Although the technicians from Blachère Illumination (the company behind these illuminations) were able to intervene quickly to secure the installations, the incident caused an overvoltage on the network which damaged the same network and the electronics of the illuminations. An irreparable material that will therefore have to be replaced.

The Committee of the Champs-Elysées announces in its press release its intention to file a complaint with the police station of the 8th arrondissement of Paris and apologizes to Parisians.
