The suspect in the knife attack in Illerkirchberg has confessed to stabbing a girl several times with a knife. This was announced on Tuesday by the police and public prosecutor’s office in Ulm. The 27-year-old man from Eritrea was questioned on January 5. He also stated that he had not known the two girls before. A 14-year-old girl died in the knife attack on December 5, and her 13-year-old friend was seriously injured. The alleged perpetrator is in custody in a prison hospital. The authorities did not provide any information on the man’s possible motives. After the crime, the suspect was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and underwent hours of surgery.

The parents of the 13-year-old, who survived the attack, wrote to the public after Christmas and asked for calm to process the events. Fortunately, her daughter’s health is stable, “the external wound is healing,” she quoted Southwest Press from writing. They are infinitely grateful that their daughter survived the “incredible act”. The girl lost her best friend that day, her closest confidante, who she had known since kindergarten.
