Illegal Landfill – Deykin Avenue: Britain’s dirtiest street

Watch the video: Britain’s dirtiest street – Deykin Avenue looks like a rubbish dump.

Deykin Avenue in Birmingham is quite possibly the dirtiest street in Britain.
Since 2021, the street has been like a waste dump. The mountains of rubbish have now reached a height of over two meters.
Apart from household rubbish, there are car parts, mattresses, refrigerators, beds and also sofas in the rubbish heaps.
Despite these conditions, the street is still inhabited.
Resident John Scott is 83 years old and has lived on Deykin Avenue since 1993.
He reports that, despite several complaints, nothing is being done to clean up the rubbish.
The city is asking for evidence of illegal garbage dumping by strangers. However, the local residents cannot afford this.
The situation is now so bad that his house can no longer be accessed from the back.
But aside from being unsavory, the situation is potentially dangerous. No one knows for sure what’s under the trash.
“There are gas canisters in there, among other things. If a fire starts, it could be really bad.” -John vs. SWNS
Aside from the potential fire hazard, the litter also poses a health risk.
The remaining families in the street regularly get together and organize clean-up campaigns.
However, the tidy state never lasts long. At night, strangers keep throwing away new rubbish in the 300-meter-long alley.
According to local residents, one thing is clear: if the situation does not improve, they will soon no longer be able to live here.
