It didn’t work out with the ESC this year, but Ikke Hipgold would like to take part in the preliminary round again in 2024.

Apparently, Ikke Hipgold (46) doesn’t give up that easily. Although the party hit star is not allowed to travel to the Eurovision Song Contest for Germany after his second place in the ESC preliminary round, he would like to start preparing for a new attempt soon.

Hip Gold was with me on March 3rd his song “Song with good text” in the preliminary round “Eurovision Song Contest 2023 – Our song for Liverpool”, among other things broadcast in the first, started. The band Lord Of The Lost prevailed in the show with “Blood & Glitter” – and will now represent Germany in the music competition in May.

Ikke Hipgold: “Writing the next song again”

“We’ll sit down next week. We’re already writing the next song for next year,” explains the singer of the “Bild” newspaper. It was “a decent result” and he was “national number one. I was the only one with German and with a good text and that has to be enough.”

The singer was able to score particularly well with the audience, for which he thanked them. In he wrote an Instagram story: “Thank you so much for your insane support!!!” The spectators “showed once again how loud and strong the German party hit is!”

In addition to Spain, Italy, France and Great Britain, Germany is one of the “Big Five” as well as the host country Ukraine automatically in the final of the ESC 2023 on May 13th. However, this will be held in Liverpool, England, although the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won in 2022. Due to planning uncertainty and security concerns about the war in Ukraine, the music event was postponed. The two semi-finals will take place on May 9th and May 11th.
