Ikea, Toom and Astra dedicate creative advertisements to Angela Merkel as a farewell

The era is over: Angela Merkel is no longer Federal Chancellor. What she does with the newly gained time, companies like Ikea and Toom have thought about it. And Merkel built into advertisements as a farewell.
Angela Merkel has time now. Or at least no longer a chancellor’s busy schedule. She wanted to take a break and think about what actually interests her. Merkel said that in the summer about the time after her chancellorship. “And then maybe I’ll try to read something, then my eyes will close because I’m tired, then I’ll sleep a little, and then we’ll see.” We’ll see? Companies like Ikea and Toom already have more concrete ideas.
As a farewell, the companies dedicated very special advertisements to Merkel. Ikea shows a Merkel double in the wing chair looking out the window. “Finally at home,” it says above. On Facebook, Ikea Merkel puts these words in her mouth: “Can you please pass me the opera glasses, I want to see whether Olaf is already busy.”
The furniture company stages the former chancellor as a critical observer who watches her successor from the living room.
A hardware store sends Merkel into the garden
Get out of politics, out of your armchair, into the garden, this is how Toom Merkel envisions himself in the future. The company had already taken up the Chancellor’s departure from politics for the federal election in September.
On an advertisement, the Merkel diamond is in Toom gloves. It also says: “For everyone who finally has time for the garden”. However, it is not known whether Angela Merkel is a fan of gardening. In any case, she likes nature, after all, she is passionate about hiking on vacation.
The Astra beer brand also picks up on the red blazer and diamond of the retired Chancellor. On the advertisement of the Hamburg brewery, hands folded into a diamond hold a bottle of “Astra Urtyp”. Above it it says: “Have a nice evening”.
The good thing is that the former Chancellor does not have to accept any of these tips, because for the first time in 16 years, planning her leisure time is entirely up to her. Have fun.
