“Igor Levit – No Fear” in the cinema – culture

Of

Cornelius Pollmer

Anyone who, unlike a piano, is not completely hammered will feel downright gifted from the very first scene of this film. Pianist Igor Levit stands in a stairwell and watches his Steinway being heaved up step by step. As a spectator, you feel immediate solidarity with both the artist and the specialists from the shipping company. So you almost lose your nerve with Levit – and you wonder what kind of interesting feeling it is to deliver the work tool to someone like him of all people, presumably a mixture of honor and fear.
