“The teachers are very unhappy, and they are right.” Faced with this observation made by Marine Le Pen, Emmanuel Macron announced, during the presidential debate on Wednesday evening, that he wanted to raise the salaries of teachers so that there is “no more career start under 2,000 euros ” per month. This increase is “conditional on absolutely nothing,” said the candidate.
This commitment will mean an increase “of about 10% for teachers at the start of their career”, specified the outgoing president, without however indicating a date. “The upgrading of teachers began under this five-year term,” he further assured.
Attack on McKinsey
Marine le Pen, she said she wanted to increase the salaries of teachers by “3% per year”, with an additional half-day of work in primary school, paid in addition. She also wanted tougher penalties for disruptive students.
The candidate also accused her opponent of wanting to “pay teachers according to the results of their students” and additional tasks. “I don’t know if it was McKinsey who proposed that,” she attacked, referring to the American consulting firm which carried out missions for the government. “I was waiting for that one,” commented his opponent.
