Idris Elba and James Bond: These two names have been associated for years. But instead of 007, the Briton could now take on another part in the Bond universe.

Hardly any other question is currently as hotly debated in the film industry as the replacement of James Bond. Daniel Craig quits after 15 years as 007, his last film “No Time to Die” was released at the end of September. There has long been a debate about which actor should slip into the role of Her Majesty’s secret agent in the future. A name that kept coming up is that of the British actor Idris Elba. He would be the first black James Bond.

The British newspaper “The Sun” now reports that Elba is actually exchanging ideas with those responsible for the film series. But the negotiations could end differently than his fans hope. “Idris has had informal conversations with the studio and has been told that there will be a role in the next Bond movie for him if he wants it. It’s very early on, but so far it looks like it is the role of villain would be, “the Sun quoted an anonymous source as saying.

The part of James Bond would therefore be out of the question. The makers, however, knew about Elba’s attraction and how much respect he enjoyed from the audience, so that they would definitely have him with them for the next film and develop an original character for it.

Idris Elba: “No, I will not be James Bond”

Elba itself said that in October British broadcaster “ITV”: “No, I will not be James Bond.” When asked if he would like to take on the role at some point, the 49-year-old replied: “Who wouldn’t want that?” In addition to Elba, the Briton Tom Hardy, “Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page and “GoT” actor Tom Hopper are traded as successors to Daniel Craig. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and actor Charlie Hunnam brought themselves into the game.

Producer Barbara Broccoli repeatedly rejected hopes that James Bond could be played by a woman. “James Bond is a male character. I hope there will be many, many films with women, for women, by women, about women. But I don’t think we should let a woman portray a male character. So yeah , I see him as a man, “said the 61-year-old recently to the British news agency PA.
