A disruption on the high-speed rail line between Cologne and Frankfurt am Main has had a serious impact on ICE connections. At around 2 a.m. on Friday night, Deutsche Bahn technicians discovered metal theft in both directions in the Siegburg/Bonn area, as a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn in North Rhine-Westphalia said.
The section of the route was closed for the duration of the repair work. During this time, the ICE trains will travel via diversion routes. The disruption will last at least the whole of Friday.
Travelers can use the ticket later
Deutsche Bahn recommends that passengers obtain information from information portals such as bahn.de and DB Navigator before starting their journey.
“All passengers who wish to postpone their trip planned on Friday can use their ticket at a later date,” it said. The train connection has been lifted.
The ticket is valid for the journey to the original destination – even with a changed route. Seat reservations can be canceled free of charge. “The other tariff and statutory passenger rights also apply, so that, for example, a ticket refund is possible under the appropriate conditions,” explained the NRW spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn.

According to Deutsche Bahn, individual long-distance trains will be rerouted on the affected route. Travelers can expect delays of up to 90 minutes. Individual trains are completely eliminated. The stops on the route between Cologne and Frankfurt Airport: Cologne/Bonn Airport, Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur and Limburg Süd have been eliminated. According to Deutsche Bahn, trains stop alternatively at Bonn Central Station and Koblenz.
