Ice hockey – Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League – Sport

The ice hockey players of EHC Munich advanced early to the round of 16 of the Champions League. They won 5-1 (0-0, 4-1, 1-0) against Slovan Bratislava on Saturday, mainly thanks to a furious second third. Five days before the start of the season in the national DEL league, coach Don Jackson’s team had their fourth win in their fourth game in Group C. Ben Street (24th), Frederik Tiffels (28th), Chris DeSousa (33rd) , Patrick Hager (36th) and Andreas Eder (41st) scored the goals for the EHC. Marcel Hascak (26th) managed to equalize in the meantime. On Thursday, the Munich team will open the DEL season with an away game at the Kölner Haie.

German champions Eisbären Berlin also celebrated a win and keep their chances of reaching the round of 16 open. The polar bears beat Grenoble 5-2 (3-2, 1-0, 1-0) and still have two games ahead of them.
