Ice hockey I – record victory in the derby – EHC Munich beats ERC Ingolstadt 9:1 – Sport

The EHC Red Bull Munich has given the ERC Ingolstadt a bitter derby defeat. On Sunday, Munich won the Oberbayern derby in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) 9-1. It was still 1:1 in the 25th minute, but the Ingolstadt team held up well up to this point. But then the EHC really turned up the heat, scoring six times alone in the middle third. The Munich goals came from Trevor Parkes and Ben Smith, who each scored twice, as well as Austin Ortega, Patrick Hager, Philip Gogulla, Frederik Tiffels and Julian Lutz, who scored his debut goal in the DEL. Leon Hüttl scored for Ingolstadt to make it 1-1. The 9:1 was Munich’s highest DEL home win.

6: 3 to 1: 3 – Straubing Tigers beat Eisbären Berlin

An impressive final third had previously given the Straubing Tigers a spectacular win over the DEL leaders. On Sunday afternoon, the Lower Bavarians were 3-1 behind at the Eisbären Berlin when the final period began. Coach Tom Pokel’s team scored five more goals there, winning 6:3 and reinforcing their fourth place in the table with their fifth win in a row. David Elsner gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute and yet the Straubingers went into the first period with a queasy feeling, as their defender Benedikt Schopper had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher shortly beforehand, suspected of having a serious knee injury. “We have to concentrate on the game, Schoppi will want that too,” said Elsner after the start third at Magentasport. Three goals conceded later, Straubing’s chances no longer looked good, but the Tigers final third was tough. Again Elsner (42′), Taylor Leier (44′), Parker Tuomie (48′), Jason Akeson (52′) and Kael Mouillierat (59′, empty goal) gave the Tigers a clear victory with their goals. Goalkeeper Sebastian Vogl, who celebrated a successful comeback after a six-week injury break, announced a new goal after the end of the game: “We’re working our way forward bit by bit – and now we’re attacking the top four.”
