Ice hockey – EHC catching up is not rewarded – sport

The EHC Red Bull Munich has said goodbye with a good comeback, but the next defeat from the ice hockey year 2021. On Thursday, Munich caught up a 3-0 deficit in their home game against Iserlohn Roosters, but lost 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out and thus suffered their eighth defeat in their last nine games in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). The EHC, which was still top of the table at the beginning of December, is now starting the new year in fourth place.

John Broda (2nd) and Sena Acolatse (13th) gave the Roosters a 2-0 lead in the starting third. Munich coach Don Jackson recently complained that his team was playing too slowly at times. That could also be seen in the last game of the year, the fast Yasin Ehliz, Frederik Tiffels (both sick) and Frank Mauer (lower body injury) were noticeably lacking in the EHC. “We have to get the game under control before it’s too late,” said defender Jonathon Blum at Magenta Sports before the middle third, in which it took only 61 seconds before Eric Cornel increased it to 3-0 for Iserlohn. The reaction from Munich came late, but it was tough: Philip Gogulla (39th) and Trevor Parkes (50th, 60th) turned the 0: 3 into a 3: 3. But Iserlohn won the penalty shootout. The new year begins for Munich with an away game on Sunday in Wolfsburg (4.30 p.m.).
