Now, in fact, art is the only thing that helps to make things work again, even in the capital. For the 70th birthday of the Berliner Festspiele, its outgoing boss Thomas Oberender had the International Congress Center, ICC, unlocked again and is now holding a festival there for ten days where the main attraction is clearly the building itself – this futuristic silver Whale, who is only 42 years old himself, but was condemned to languishing and dying on the edge of Berlin’s city motorway ages ago.
