Farewell to the compact class, welcome to high-tech luxury: from 2025 onwards, Mercedes will be revamping its model strategy and its entire modular technology system. The rather chubby EQA and the boxy EQB hatchback are discontinued models. Instead, the future star cruiser program will start with a 4.75 meter long mid-size sedan, a flat station wagon (“shooting brake”) and two SUV variants, probably a conventional panel van and a more coupé-shaped version. The “entry-level models”, as Head of Development Markus Schäfer calls them, are the brand’s next technology beacons, which even make the EQS flagship look old.
