“You are the weak heel, goodbye! As Lova Boccolini in a demented parody of The Weakest Link, Lova Ladiva was irresistible. The Toulouse drag queen, who was part of the cast of season 1 of “Drag Race France”, made a remarkable comeback in episode 8 of season 2 broadcast Friday on the second channel. Passing through Paris last weekend during the filming of the final, which will be broadcast on Friday at 10:50 p.m. on France 2, the colorful artist from Toulouse answered questions from 20 minutes.
When the production offered you to come and animate the mini-challenge of “Drag Race France”, you did not hesitate…
I said to myself, “Why not a comeback in “Drag Race”? “. It made me very happy to come back. It was very moving and it was great to have the opportunity to express myself again on this platform. It was also very symbolic for me because I left early in my season. We laughed a lot during the filming of “Weak Talon”, it was sometimes difficult to keep your seriousness. I think it was liked because, since the broadcast, I have received lots of compliments from the public. It’s very touching, because it represents a lot of work upstream.
Did you have a return from Laurence Boccolini?
Not yet. One day, maybe… If that happens, I’ll give you a quick call (laughs).
Is she a personality you like?
She’s the one I would have done at the “Snatch Game” [un défi de « Drag Race France » en forme de parodie de jeux télévisés où les drag-queens incarnent des personnalités]. I like her a lot for what she exudes, because she is an assumed round person. And me, I’m an assumed drag queen. I fully assume who I am…
ginger bitch, candidate for season 2, arrives and launches: “Hi my little bitches! “I am in an interview, responds Lova. Ah la la, these girls from season 2 who are clever… ”Ginger Bitche turns on her heels, bursting out laughing.
How do you feel watching this season 2, you who suffered the plasters a year ago?
I’m very happy that there are new queens, but it’s true that when we had the opportunity to come back to the set to attend the talent show for episode 2, we said to ourselves: “But who came to live with us? (laughs) Now that we know them all, we’re proud. And then the cast of season 2 made their first public appearance at the Toulouse LGBT+ Pride March. With Daphne Bürki, I was the host [animatrice], of this tank. We framed them, I became a little Aunt Lova!
And you also became the “mother” of Toulouse drags?
The mother maybe not, but the queen of Toulouse, yes. I make sure to be there, accessible, to talk to people and give advice if asked. I am always kind, always.
Your style of drag is that of the clubs, with a Spanish influence. Do you want to defend it?
It’s clearly my identity because I grew up with artists from nightclubs in Barcelona, Ibiza – where I had the opportunity to work. But when you end up with Grande Dame or Kam Hugh [deux autres candidates de la saison 1 de « Drag Race France »], we see the other branches of our profession, there is something to admire. We become aware that we can do something else and prove to ourselves that we can evolve. I stayed thirteen years in my drag without changing anything and there, it’s been a year since, in terms of my make-up, it’s starting to evolve… You learn at any age!
Since you were revealed to the general public a year ago, what has happened to you?
There was this great tour that got incredible reactions. If I’m asked to do it again tomorrow, I’ll be happy to go back. My suitcases are already packed! Since my appearance in the last episode seems to have been liked, I want to push things a little further. Why not do TV? I will try to see what I can develop.
