“I am more afraid of the climate crisis than of repression”, says an activist after his action on BFMTV

“It was decided because of the guest, in particular,” begins Simon. Last Renovation activist, this young 28-year-old from Normandy interrupted, on Sunday, the BFMTV show, “BFM politique” in which Marion Maréchal was speaking. “There is a need to interrupt the normal course of things,” he justified.

While the Reconquest candidate for the European elections was being interviewed on the channel’s set, Simon and another activist ran to sit on the tables behind which the guests and columnists were sitting. An action forcing the channel to interrupt its program for approximately 15 minutes.

“It’s about our lives, it’s urgent and that’s the message I wanted to bring to the set. Today, we absolutely need to build an ecology that is fundamentally anti-racist, anti-fascist,” he explained to the camera. 20 minutes.

“I am more afraid of the climate crisis than of repression”

Founded in April 2022, the Première Rénovation collective campaigns for the thermal renovation of buildings. When the environmental movement started, there were only four of them. Today, there are around 2,000. “We want to put this subject back at the center of the media space, which also requires obtaining visibility. And BFMTV is a channel that has a certain audience,” explains Simon.

After being arrested by the police, the activist finally avoided police custody and was released a few hours later. Consequences that he fully accepts: “I am much more afraid of the effects of the climate crisis than of the repression that I could suffer for an action like that. It is our duty to break the law when it does not serve the common good.”
