Two teenagers were found crammed into the trunk of a car during a police check. The police officers stopped the vehicle with a Polish license plate in Hutthurm, Lower Bavaria, on Tuesday evening. The 44-year-old driver was able to identify himself, but not three Syrian passengers, as the federal police announced on Thursday.
When officers opened the trunk, they found a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old Syrian man. They were in good health despite the presumably longer journey without breaks. Proceedings were instituted against the driver for smuggling foreigners under serious health risks. He is now in custody.
