Hut in South Tyrol: The Überetsch Hut on the Mendelkamm – Travel

On a foggy Saturday afternoon, there is not much going on at the Überetscher Hütte. A group of mountain bikers arrive, the men hang their sweaty sports shirts on the handlebars to dry and sit on the terrace, where a few hikers are already drinking beer. For dinner there is pasta with chamois ragout or bratwurst with roasted potatoes. The menu cards are provisionally attached to plywood panels. Handicrafts aren’t really his thing, says Andrea Minotti, who writes down the orders on a pad with a pen. “But we don’t want a normal menu, it’s too reminiscent of a restaurant where everything has to be perfect – we want to be a simple mountain hut.”
