Mom blogger, Alexandrea Acevedo, from Orlendo, Fla., has opened up on her social media channels about how she was cheated on by her husband Michael for most of their marriage but stayed with him, and it’s gone viral.
Over half a million views on TikTok and most users can’t understand their decision:
One person says, “I couldn’t do that, if he just kisses another woman, it’s over. The trust is broken.”
Another added: “3 1/2 years????? I would feel like he was a stranger.”
While a third commented, “Once is fine but for 3.5 years!?”
The parents of three children got married in 2018, five years after they met, but were already considering divorce the following year.
Eternal quarrels, Michael’s gambling and alcohol addiction lead to their marital crisis. However, Alexandrea never thinks that he would cheat on her.
When she discovered some suspicious messages on her husband’s cell phone in December 2022, she confronted him.
“At first I just felt anger and pain, a lot of emotions and I always said that for me infidelity meant the end of a relationship – and he knew it too.” – Alexandra
Michael admits his three-and-a-half-year affair, after which Alexandrea tells him to leave. She first wants to find out for herself how she intends to proceed with this knowledge.
“To get to where I am now, I just stopped looking for faults in myself and him, stopped looking for reasons to feel bad about my situation and started looking for reasons looking to make me feel good.” – Alexandra
Now finally confronted with an impending divorce, Michael begins to confront his problems, which go far beyond cheating.
“Before all of this happened, he was bricking and not talking to me. He put gambling, alcohol and even another woman above me.” – Alexandrea
Meanwhile, Michael is communicating with his wife, has started therapy, and goes to Alcoholics Anonymous, which has tempted Alexandra to give him a second chance.
“What got us here absolutely sucks, the betrayal and pain I felt I wouldn’t wish on anyone. But I feel like my husband had to go through these things or hit rock bottom in order to grow up and be a great husband and a great father.”
Despite a number of negative comments on her social media channels, in which her decision is criticized, Alexandrea stands by and defends her point of view.
“It’s a process. I have my difficult moments too, but then he tries to understand me as best he can and focuses on helping me. We are learning every day and I have faith that he will continue to do whatever he can. Now that I see how much he’s changed.” – Alexandrea
“Love has to be there, it’s not a fleeting feeling, it’s a choice you make every day and when you stop choosing to love someone it’s easy to give up on them. But the person who had the affair must also be willing to be honest about everything from now on.” – Alexandrea
After the bumpy start, hopefully the happy ending will begin for the young family.
