Hurricane – BASF interrupts production – economy

BASF suspended production in the US state of Louisiana because of Hurricane Ida. Affected are the Geismar Verbund site, the chemical company’s largest production facility in North America, as well as North Geismar and Vidalia. As soon as the storm is over, security personnel will check the sites before operations resume, a BASF spokesman said on Monday. The company employs around 2000 people in Louisiana. The US state has over a million people without electricity after Ida moved across the country.
