Hundreds of truck drivers are slowing down to protest high fuel prices

The currently high fuel prices are particularly affecting the freight forwarding industry. Several hundred truck drivers are currently protesting with a crawl on the A100 and the Berlin Ring – they are demanding a significant reduction in mineral oil tax.

Since Wednesday morning, several hundred truck drivers have been protesting against the current high fuel prices by crawling on the Berlin city motorway and the Berlin ring road. The campaign is being organized by several freight forwarders in Brandenburg.

The trucks had gathered at several locations in Brandenburg and then wanted to drive at least once along the Berliner Ring. The crawling began partly with the hazard warning lights on and a speed of 30 close together in the right lane.

From the Neukölln direction, many trucks are also slowly traveling on the A100. The A113 and A111 are also affected. The traffic information center has announced restrictions for the entire Berlin city area.

The truck drivers are demanding that the mineral oil tax be reduced by 50 cents. Politicians should immediately do something about the rising prices at the pump and not think about it for a long time, said co-organizer Marcus Hustan from Oranienburg. Otherwise, his construction company with 100 employees would soon be out of business.

A competitive disadvantage is also criticized, from which freight forwarders suffered due to the fuel prices, especially in the border area with Poland. The prices are much lower there. Industry associations such as the Transport and Logistics Association of Berlin and Brandenburg distanced themselves from the protests.
