He would have celebrated his 100th birthday in November 2023: ARD is honoring the humorist Loriot with a documentary, sketches, comedies and a podcast series.

With a wide range of programs, they want to ARD celebrates the humorist Loriot (1923-2011) on his 100th birthday. The offer includes a new 90-minute documentary, a podcast series, special programs (from November 6th to 9th four times “Loriot vor eight” before the 8 p.m. “Tagesschau”) as well as repeats of his cinema comedies.

“On Monday, November 6th, Das Erste will dedicate a theme day to Loriot,” said ARD. The focus will be on the newly produced documentary “LORIOT100” by André Schäfer from 8:15 p.m. (available in the ARD media library from October 30th). Afterwards (9.45 p.m.) comes the pensioner comedy “Pappa ante portas”. According to ARD, on the actual 100th birthday (November 12th) of the artist, who was born in Brandenburg an der Havel, the best sketches can be seen in the afternoon program of the First Loriot, followed by the feature film “Ödipussi”.

The ARD audio library also has a birthday podcast available (podcast episodes appear weekly from November 4th), in which comedienne Ariana Baborie listens to the comedy legend’s sketches and shares them with guests such as Christoph Maria Herbst, Annette Frier, Oliver Kalkofe or cartoonist Ralph Ruthe analyze.

In addition to the new documentary and feature films as well as sketch and cartoon classics from SWR and Radio Bremen, the birthday shows by and with Loriot that were once produced by ARD will also be available in the media library.

Loriot, actually Bernhard-Viktor (Vicco) von Bülow, was for decades one of the greats in his field as a cartoonist, author, director and actor. He died on August 22, 2011 in Ammerland on Lake Starnberg.
