Hardly a week goes by in China without a new automaker stepping into the limelight, targeting Tesla and overturning the German premium competition – electric, of course. The expectations are particularly high for the HiPhi Z, the top model from the Chinese manufacturer Human Horizons.

The first serve caused quite a stir – the Human Horizons HiPhi Z wants to be nothing less than the coolest electric luxury sedan in China and is celebrating itself as the digital GT of the modern age. It should offer intuitive functions, a digital soul and emotional interactions. This makes it the partner model of the HiPhi X SUV, which celebrated its premiere last year and with which the HiPhi Z shares the electrical platform. Its official world premiere is expected for Auto China in Beijing next April. But even the near-series concept study makes you want more and attacks models such as the Mercedes EQS, the upcoming electric BMW i7 or the Nio ET7. The design of the luxury limousine in the Faraday style is simply spectacular, because not only are there imposing digital light installations at the rear and front, but also the side with doors opening in opposite directions is set in scene by islands of light that can be used to communicate with the surroundings. The 5.20-meter-long electric model rolls on stately 22-inch vehicles and has a rear spoiler that extends in several stages, which unfolds gradually from the trunk lid from a speed of 80 km / h. Instead of the usual exterior mirrors, there are cameras and small screens in the front left and right of the dashboard. Also digital: the inside mirror.

In contrast to many competitors, the Tesla competitor not only wants to shine with its electric range of up to 600 kilometers, but also with driver assistance level three, which can be increased to level 4 in the medium term. To this end, the Chinese luxury model has not only a dozen cameras, but also numerous lidar and radar sensors that prevent collisions by scanning the environment in real time. “At Human Horizons, we strive for constant innovation and we want to push the boundaries of what is possible. For this new range of vehicles, we have been inspired by concepts of space and time, drawing parallels between science, art, human imagination and sensory experience to create something really special “, explains Ding Lei, founder of Human Horizons,” as a flagship, the HiPhi Z represents everything we want to be as a brand and is built for people who, like us, are driven by the desire to discover and create. “

The interior of the luxurious four-seater is hardly less impressive than the exterior. Here, too, light installations play a major role, while most of the functions are operated via a central screen that can be moved in all directions via a joint, the steering wheel or voice. As with Nio, there is also the so-called HiPhi Bot with its Nomi, a digital assistant with artificial intelligence, which can also be operated by voice and fulfills all wishes on board. The four occupants sit on synthetic leather and look at panels made from recycled material. Like the 5.20-meter-long SUV brother HiPhi X, the HiPhi Z will also be offered with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive from the middle of next year. The basic version should produce 200 kW / 272 PS; the top model 400 kW / 544 PS and a torque of over 900 Nm.
