Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil is planning restrictions on office work in view of the rising corona numbers. According to a media report, home office and 3G compulsory at work are planned.

The current development of the corona pandemic could result in new restrictions in the world of work: Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) wants to reintroduce an obligation to work from home due to the increasing number of infections with the corona virus. This was reported by “Bild am Sonntag” with reference to a draft law that the Federal Ministry of Labor had submitted to the traffic light parties SPD, Greens and FDP. Accordingly, 3G is also mandatory in the workplace.

“In the case of office work or comparable activities, the employer has to offer employees to carry out these activities in their home if there are no compelling operational reasons to the contrary,” the newspaper quotes from the draft. “The employees have to accept this offer, provided there are no reasons to the contrary.”

Hubertus Heil also advocates a 3G rule in the workplace

According to “Bild”, the parliamentary groups of the traffic light parties have been discussing the draft since the weekend. In particular with the FDP it is therefore still unclear how it positions itself.

According to “Bild”, the planned 3G rule at work – that is, the obligation to present proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test result – provides that the employer does not have to offer tests. Unvaccinated employees would therefore have to take care of a certified rapid test themselves on a daily basis.

In Germany, the number of new coronavirus infections reported daily has risen sharply in the past few days and this week exceeded the 50,000 threshold for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. The nationwide seven-day incidence is approaching the 300 mark and, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), was 289 as of Sunday. In view of the high number of cases, various measures are currently being discussed again to contain the spread of the virus target.
