Hubert Aiwanger’s election tweet has no consequences – Bavaria

Two weeks after the election tweet it is clear: Hubert Aiwanger does not have to fear any punishment. Case done? Not quite. Because some things are still unclear. For example: Where do the numbers that the FW boss tweeted come from?

There, where Hubert Aiwanger has produced such an excitement, it remains calm this time. Until Wednesday afternoon there is only a group photo with the staff council of his Ministry of Economic Affairs, Aiwanger has not put more into the world on his Twitter profile since it became known on Tuesday evening that the Federal Returning Officer would not initiate any proceedings against him. As a reminder: On the day of the federal election, Free Voters boss Aiwanger tweeted alleged post-election surveys and deleted them after a few minutes. The tweet came at 4:11 p.m. while the polling stations were still open, combined with an election call for his party. Two weeks later it is now clear: There is no penalty for Aiwanger. Case done? Oh well.
