This is what the Umih 33 (Union des professions de l’hôtellerie industry) will test, in agreement with the Gironde prefecture, from Wednesday for regular customers of its establishments. An operation that will be a test for professionals from other departments who are watching the initiative with interest.
“We have customers who come back several times a week, or even a day, to our establishments, and having to ask the same customer for the sanitary pass ten times, this is starting to become annoying for everyone, explains to 20 minutes the president of Umih 33 Laurent Tournier. Result: we end up no longer controlling these customers that we know well and who have their pass, but suddenly the other customers wonder why, them, have to show their QR Code … This gave us the idea to have a sign of recognition for these customers, with a colored bracelet with the Umih 33 logo. “
Volunteer customers who have proven their identity
An email has been sent to the thousand professionals who are members of the Umih. Some 250 have already responded positively. “The feedback is very positive, we hope that at least 500 establishments will participate in this operation” assures Laurent Tournier. These will become the “relay points” to distribute the bracelets to customers. “Now we will see how customers react, but I think it will be easier for them to have this single-use bracelet, intended only for people who have been vaccinated twice, and which will make it possible to navigate clearly in all the establishments. Some 20,000 bracelets were ordered initially. “If we see that it works well, we will restock it. “
Regarding the security of the device, Laurent Tournier specifies that the bracelet, free, will be given on a voluntary basis, “to customers who have shown their pass and justified their identity”. He believes that this device would be even more reliable than the simple presentation of the QR Code, since “it is not in our prerogatives to check the identity of people with a health pass.
