Scandinavian style and industrial style: why do they go so well together?
Scandinavian furniture has the particularity of being functional – a point in common with the essential professional furniture in the industrial interior. And with its minimalist lines, it fits into any type of interior. A few Scandinavian elements therefore bring a touch of lightness to the industrial interior, without distorting it.
In the industrial living room, for example, we love the Scandinavian armchair to accompany the emblematic leather sofa and the factory coffee table.
From wall decoration to furniture to furniture, the industrial style has a strong personality. An emblematic piece of industrial style is therefore enough to twist the very wise Scandinavian interior.
For a maximum of character, we opt for a strong element such as the glass roof to separate the bedroom from the bathroom in the master suite.
The alternative is to play with the furniture, for example by combining a Nordic table and a factory sideboard inspired by craft furniture in the dining room, or an industrial coffee table and a Scandinavian sofa in the living room.
Just as we distinguish between boho decor and bohemian decor today, the industrial style is divided into different currents: it must be taken into account to mix it elegantly with the Scandinavian style.
To avoid bad taste for sure, bet on neo-industrial decoration. This trend reinterprets the codes of industrial style in a very contemporary minimalist version. Displaying a very refined look close to Nordic design, the iconic industrial pendant light goes well with a kitchen island or a Scandinavian sofa, for example.
Color: your best ally for combining Scandinavian style and industrial style
Whether it’s to boost the brightness, to enlarge a room or to make a room whose ceiling is too high cozy, color plays a major role in pampering our interiors. Unsurprisingly, it is also a precious ally for mixing Scandinavian spirit and industrial atmosphere.
Scandinavian decoration gives pride of place to white and pastel colors. To reconcile luminosity and character, we opt for this very light palette, and we fall for raw industrial furniture, and in darker colors.
To accentuate the loft spirit of your decor, don’t hesitate to play with textures, for example by adopting whitewashed bricks. Then bet on facing plates or, more simply, on brick wallpaper.
Conversely, you can orient yourself towards the palette of blacks and grays – two of the colors to favor in industrial decoration. This type of atmosphere can be very cozy, especially if you choose Scandinavian furniture that gives it softness and brightness. Choose soft materials, such as looped wool, or bright wood species such as bamboo.
Black wall for a cozy atmosphere, white to give lightness to the furniture… the very graphic association of the respective key colors of each style effectively punctuates the decor.
Scandi-industrial style: the most beautiful ideas
If the association of Scandinavian style and industrial style resists all trends, it is in particular because this tandem opens the door wide to creativity.
In this scandi-industrial living room, we have combined a retro TV cabinet, an armchair and a sofa in vintage Scandinavian velvet with a square metal and marble coffee table in the purest neo-industrial style. A winning mix of genres, for an authentic and contemporary atmosphere at the same time.
The trick to adopting an industrial table in a small dining room is simply to accessorize it with Scandinavian chairs with an airy design. And we don’t forget a rug to structure the dining area and make it more cocooning, of course!
We love the black parquet, which sublimates a scandi-industrial interior dominated by white! This combination of white and black also has an interesting advantage: it visually enlarges the room. We therefore play it in a small living room or a small bedroom, of course, but also in a small bathroom.
Among the trendy pieces of the year, we must reckon with the hide rug. If we expect it in the chalet decor bedroom, it also works in a scandi-industrial atmosphere. For a cocooning and stylish bedroom, we dare the low bed, in pallets. And we don’t skimp on bed linen, favoring the soft materials that are iconic of the Nordic style!
In the kitchen, in the living room or in the bedroom: we melt for the black guinguette garland – a canon lighting day and night, which sublimates the scandi-industrial interior.
