How mountain rescue has changed – Bavaria

Christoph 17 is standing high in the air, under the orange rescue helicopter, in the steep terrain, everything is prepared. One of the men wearing the yellow safety vest with “Emergency Doctor” written in large letters is already wearing a rescue diaper. The mountain rescuer next to him grabs the rope, secures himself and the person next to him to the rescue cloth called a diaper – then they can both be pulled up on board the helicopter using a cable winch. The pilot of the rescue helicopter actually quickly takes injured people in the Allgäu Alps to a hospital. Here, in the area around Pfronten, he doesn’t have that far: Christoph 17 lands just around the corner after a successful exercise.
