Much is still not understood and some are puzzling about the complaints that Covid patients go through weeks to months after their acute phase of illness. Now there are 14 specialist societies, patient associations and other experts presented an initial recommendation for the diagnosis and treatment of “Long Covid”. It is a so-called S1 guideline, i.e. a recommendation on the first of three possible quality levels. It is not based on a systematic evaluation of all evidence, but on the informally found consensus of the experts involved. The document is to be continuously updated.
