How does Enzo Seignourel, who sings at the treetops, manage not to tremble?

Could you push the song, a guitar slung over your shoulder, harnessed to the top of a tree some thirty meters high? Enzo Seignourel, yes. And even rather twice than once. This 27-year-old young man, singer and pruner, has once again climbed to the top of a tree in recent weeks to record a dizzying clip.

After an acoustic pick-up 35 meters above the ground of Nightcallfrom Kavinsky, in his village, in Graissessac (Hérault), last year, Enzo Seignourel gained height in Montpellier, for his new video. He climbed to the top of a sequoia, in the square de la Tour des pins, and a cedar, on the esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle, to interpret Crystal Eyes, one of his compositions. A good thirty meters from the floor of the cows. A crazy performance, which would make anyone dizzy.

“I can’t say I’m afraid of heights, of course”

But this young man, accustomed to trudge high in the trees to cut branches, did he have, in the sky of Montpellier, the legs which tremble? “It’s a question that I am often asked, and it’s quite difficult to answer it, entrusts Enzo Seignourel to 20 minutes. With the experience of my job, I don’t have the same feelings as someone who isn’t used to climbing a tree. Can’t say I’m afraid of heights, of course. But they are still exceptional trees, and there are few people who have such tall trees in their garden… I usually work in trees 15 or 20 meters tall. So there is a little something extra. »

But small moments of stress, there are, sometimes, notes the young man. In particular because of the wind, which, even when it is very weak, swings the tree from right to left. “The slightest jolt makes us move several meters,” explains Enzo Seignourel. I can’t say I’m scared, because I’m used to it, but it gives strong feelings. “It’s a bit stressful, too, when it happens, about thirty meters above the ground, something that was not really planned…” The drone that was filming me was attacked by seagulls, or gulls , I don’t really know what… It was very impressive, it’s still big birds, remembers the young man. They brushed against me! At the top, I had to manage this unforeseen event, with the wind, all that…”

But, as crazy as it may seem, it’s easier, for Enzo Seignourel, to climb a tree “with a guitar, than with a chainsaw, and a whole bunch of much more dangerous things. I don’t risk cutting myself with my guitar! But, beyond the risks he takes, having had the chance to sing in the clouds, above a metropolis, is something that this young artist is not about to forget. “I didn’t feel very privileged. I had an amazing view. In the Square de la Tour des Pins, above Saint-Pierre Cathedral, I had the impression of being in Assassin’s Creed. When I close my eyes, I see myself there. It’s mine, forever. »
